How to Dress for Success In Real Estate
What should you wear if you want to give off an air of professionalism? Today I’ll discuss my own team’s dress code.
What should you wear to a listing appointment?
Years ago, our sales team had an agent we worked with who had a bizarre sense of style. He was a great guy and a lot of fun, in fact, he was one of the best people I have ever worked with. But, his attire was a little strange.
I once bought a belt buckle with a scorpion on it for him since it would fit his aesthetic perfectly. To give you an idea of what I mean, his sense of fashion was something like “Elvis Presley meets 2018.”
I loved working with him. However, I had to develop a policy for attire when we’re meeting with our clients. This is our policy:
A button-down shirt, tucked in
Nice slacks (no jeans)
Nice, polished shoes
A nice blouse
A subdued amount of makeup/perfume
Of course, appropriate attire can vary by location. A hotter climate, for example, might warrant a different outfit than a cooler one. Regardless, looking clean, sharp, and professional will show the client that you take the job seriously and will endear them to you.
