How to Ensure Your Team Starts on the Right Path

How to Ensure Your Team Starts on the Right Path

How can you foster employee growth on a small team? It’s simpler than you think.

I wanted to talk today about one of the things I do on a daily basis when consulting with top agents who are trying to build a team. Whether you’ve started building your team or not, you deserve guidance and leadership. After you’ve made your first hire, whether it’s an assistant, a buyer’s agent, or an ISA, what’s the next step?

It’s either a will problem or a skill problem.

When building a team, it’s important that you have consistent, open communication with your team members. You should have a weekly conversation with them that looks like this:

1. What were your goals?
2. What results did you see?
3. How do you feel about those results?
4. What are you going to do next?

When people aren’t achieving their goals, it’s usually either a will problem or a skill problem. Understanding why you’re doing what you’re doing can help you fix the “will problem.” The consistent application of best practices and methods will help with the “skill problem.”

No matter what stage your team is at, it’s important to be a strong, confident leader. If you have any questions for me about how to grow your team or anything else, give me a call or send me an email. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
