The Best Way to Follow Up With an Internet Lead With No Phone Number

If you get an internet lead with no phone number attached, you should reach out to that lead and develop a rapport with them first before actually asking for a number.

Today I was working with an agent in my office who emailed me an internet lead that had a valid email address, but no phone number attached to it. When they asked me how to follow up on it, here’s what I told them.

If you ask for a phone number in this situation, odds are you won’t get it. Instead, you should start a dialogue with the lead first. It might start with a one-line email that goes something like “Hey (name), I see that you’re looking for homes online. Are you still looking in the Woodbridge area?”

After they reply, try asking them a secondary question that specifies what type of home they’re looking for. After they reply to that, then you can suggest that the two of you have a phone conversation and ask what’s the best number for you to reach them.

So when it comes to internet leads, develop a rapport first before you ask for a number.
